it's that time of year again, when i'm out taking pictures of the flowers blooming in my yard.

a frosty spring morning

a few weeks ago my husband pointed this out to me, how the frost was melted outside of the shadow. i thought it was cool how you can clearly see the frost line/shadow.
again, in the yard...

i took these pictures on wednesday, when we had a snow day - it was a beautiful day, with the white snow sparkling, the blue sky, the sun shining.


this first one is a little bakery we've been going to. it's new, and it's kind of hidden in a back alley, but it's a great little place.

valentine's photo craft

i'm so excited about this. i saw this idea on another blog (can't remember where, sorry).
i used black and white tag board as a background, then had the kids make heart shapes with their hands.

in the other blog post, the pictures were in regular frames. i got this idea from a book called photojojo (a book of photo crafts that is awesome). i used old cd cases as frames. i pulled out the papers, then printed the pictures in squares (it's actually the "cd cover" setting on the printer, so it fits perfectly). then i took some wire that came in a package with different types of frame-hanging hardware. i attached the wire through little slits in the top of the cd case, then just hung them from nails! i'm calling it a valnetine's project, but these babies are staying up in my kitchen all year! i think they're so cool.
